Jo Moloney is an Australian artist based in Melbourne, working in hard-edged geometric abstraction. Her paintings draw on twentieth-century modernist traditions—part art history, part imagined history—reframing utopian forms through a lens that is both meticulous and deeply personal.

With an early career in commercial photography, Jo developed a sharp compositional eye and a strong technical foundation. She worked across film and television productions as a unit stills photographer, with images appearing in Marie Claire, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Vault, and Island magazine, as well as in national marketing campaigns for Australian musicians and artists.

In March 2023, Jo presented a solo exhibition of new works at Five Walls, marking a significant milestone in the development of her geometric practice. Later that year she was commissioned to create works for the new hotel Lanson Place Parliamentary Gardens, contributing to the visual identity of the space. Her painting Gernreich’s Muse was subsequently acquired by the Justin Art House Museum (JAHM) and exhibited from February to September 2024.

Jo has also completed numerous commissions for private collectors and continues to expand her evolving body of geometric work.
